Handicap Cup - “How to . . .”

There is an example at the foot of this page.

1. Find your three players’ percentages (these are shown at the bottom of this page).

2. Use the “Player Handicap Calculator” (below) to convert their % to their Handicap.

3. Add the three players’ handicap values and divide by three to find the team average.

4. To assess the Handicap, take the difference between the averages for each team.

To obtain the handicap from the “Team Handicap Calculator” (below) simply deduct the lower average from the higher average and the GROUP difference will determine the Handicap awarded to the Higher Group Average team

e.g. Team A Average Handicap 15

Team B Average Handicap 25

So, Team B has a group difference of 10, which, as you can see from the Team Handicap Calculator, is equal to a 110 point head start.

5. The Match consists of 3 singles and 1 doubles of 2 ends each making a total of 20 ends.

Each end shall be terminated when one player reaches 21 (even if the score is 21-20).

The points scored by each team shall be added up, the appropriate start added, the team with the most points shall be the winners.

In the event of a tie, the doubles 3rd set shall be played with the handicap being applied PRO-RATA.
