The Grip

A good grip is essential!

The "Hand Shake" or "Crocodile"

You should hold the bat like a firm hand shake.

The fleshy "flap" of skin between the thumb and index finger should be touching the exposed wooden curve where the bat blade touches the handle.

There are other ways to hold the bat, most notably the pen holder grip favoured by many players from China and Japan.
